Collaborative Advocacy

CLLARO advocates for legislation and policies at the Colorado Capitol to benefit lower income and vulnerable members of the Latino community. We normally advocate in coalition with other organizations that support our mission and values.
In June 2026, HB26-1320 was signed by Governor Polis. With a coalition of 25 civic and community organizations, CLLARO led the effort to strengthen existing law by ensuring that state ballot titles are written in plain, understandable language. Thank you to sponsors at the Colorado State House of Representatives Kevin Nguyen and Lorena Garcia, and Colorado State Senator Adrienne Benavidez. It is the use of clear words and a logical structure that helps make the ballot title easier to understand. We all want to know what we've voting for and whether it is a yes or no. This bill seeks to address undervoting - in which voters may skip ballot measures that are difficult to understand.
You are invited to the 2026 Colorado Latino Policy Summit on Friday, August 28, 2026, presented by CLLARO and Metro State University of Denver. Sessions will address affordable health care, housing and financial empowerment, the future of Hispanic Serving Colleges and Universities, Latino workforce development, Latino voter engagement and the future of U.S. democracy, organizations working together, and include a forum of multi-party election candidates. See our events page for more and to register!
