Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals AKA DACA, has been one of the biggest topics in America since September 5th 2017 when the Trump Administration started their plans to phase out DACA. If you have any questions about this, or need to know your rights visit this link. In a recent survey conducted it showed that 3 out of every 4 U.S. citizens stand with the Dreamers (https://www.unidosus.org/issues/immigration/). Nearly 800,000 DACA recipients who attend school, work, and have homes have had their life disrupted.
In other news, CBS News reports that the Trump Administration launched a plan to collect biometric information from migrants and immigrants as young as 14 to 79 and add them to a criminal database maintained by the FBI. Border patrol officers in Detroit will start collecting DNA samples from migrants between the ages of 14 and 79. (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-collecting-dna-samples-from-migrants-including-children-first-stage-of-program/) This program will run for 90 days, starting now. The national organization UnidosUS (with which CLLARO is affiliated) issued the following statement. “We deserve better from our leaders. We call on Democrats and Republicans in Congress to work together to pass a clean DREAM Act.”
