Lead the organization’s annual fundraising to enable CLLARO to help Latinos in Colorado solve problems facing their communities.  CLLARO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.  Its mission is to empower Latinos in Colorado through leadership development, advocacy, and policy research to strengthen Colorado. 

The Development Director will perform a variety of tasks, including: 

  • lead implementation of the annual fund development plan to raise funds from individuals, foundations, government, and corporations, 

  • write funding proposals and reports,

  • manage donor solicitation and stewardship,

  • strategize communication messaging, 

  • track donors, proposals, and reports, and

  • plan fundraising events.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Raise a minimum of $1 million annually in alignment with CLLARO’s strategic plan.

  • Track and communicate outcomes of the fund development plan.

  • Promote CLLARO to potential funders and the wider community.

  • Provide direction and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and board members on a coordinated donor stewardship strategy that builds and enhances relationships with established and prospective donors in order to maximize funding.

  • Work collaboratively with staff to write online funding proposals and reports and compelling and strategic fundraising communications for appeals and social media.

  • Build a successful fund development department.

  • Create a strategy for, and provide strong direction of, the annual CLLARO Bernie Valdez Awards event and other events.

  • Actively use development databases and systems to drive efficient and responsible donor relations, as well as track solicitation and donation received.

  • Other duties to advance CLLARO.


Qualifications. Passion for CLLARO’s mission.  B.A. or equivalent experience and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in fund development.  Knowledge of fundraising vehicles and experience in implementing a variety of development strategies with a demonstrated history of managing fundraising programs.  Experience in successfully writing and preparing grant proposals and reports.  Experience in successfully cultivating and stewarding foundation and corporate relationships and donors.  Excellent writing and communication skills and ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences.  Spanish language fluency is preferred.  Ability to develop social media messaging.  Familiarity with online donor management systems.  Ability to work with colleagues in an inclusive manner.   


Terms.  This is a full-time position.  The annual salary range is $55,000-$65,000 depending upon experience.  The benefits package includes health insurance and paid time off.
